The white grape variety originates from Ukraine. It is named after an old name of the town of Sudak in the Crimea. Synonyms are SD-56 and Soldaiya. In Crimea, it is used as a blend in fortified wines, e.g. by the Solnechnaya Dolina (Sun Valley) winery. It is also used as table grape. No population was recorded in 2016 (Kym Anderson).

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
