Sovereign

Designation (also Souverain) of an oversized bottle for champagne with the volume of 35 standard bottles (0.75 l each = 26.25 litres). However, the name is not origin-protected, but can be used freely for sparkling wines or wines. One such bottle was created by the champagne house Taittinger especially for the christening of the largest cruise ship in the world - the "Sovereign of the Seas". According to some sources, there is also a Sovereign with a volume of 50 litres (~67 bottles). See lists under bottles (all formats) and wine vessels (all types, from antiquity to the present day).
