spring wine

In Austria and Germany common name for a young, fresh and light white wine, which is bottled early, intended for rapid consumption and is marketed under this name. But it has no legal meaning. However, the term is not unique, for example, in southern Germany earlier also wines were so called, which were produced from dandelion flowers. After old custom Celtic Originally one enjoyed spring wines with the first grown strawberries for the festival of the re-awakened spring "Beltane" from the 30th of April to the 1st of May, better known as Walpurgisnacht. Beltane is the sun god, who has grown into a mature adult youth and now again takes over the rule. Sometimes so will the summer wines so called. In France, spring wine is known as "Vin de printemps" as a red wine punch with strawberries. See also below special wines,
