The winery is located in Tanunda Barossa Valley
in the state of South Australia. It was founded in 1944 by the Lindner family. In 1988, the ownership of "Big Bob" McLean was taken over. The cellar master, who has been working at the estate since 1974, is called Stuart Blackwell. The vineyards cover 40 hectares, which are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Chenin Blanc, Grenache Noir, Merlot, Mourvèdre, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Shiraz. The flagship of the house is the "Old Block Shiraz", which comes from 70 to over 100-year-old rootless vines. The extremely long-lived red wine is first aged for 12 months in American oak barrels and then in used French oak barrels. The 1990 vintage is called Wine of the century
titled. There are also wines marketed under the label "McLean's Farm".
