The estate is located in Tanunda in Barossa Valley
in the state of South Australia. It was founded in 1944 by the Lindner family. In 1988, Big Bob McLean became the property. The cellar master who has been working on the estate since 1974 is called Stuart Blackwell. The vineyards cover 40 hectares of vineyards planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Chenin Blanc, Grenache Noir, Merlot, Mourvèdre, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Shiraz. The flagship of the house is the "Old Block Shiraz", which comes from 70 to over 100-year-old root-resistant vines. The extremely long-lived red wine is aged for 12 months in American oak barrels and then in used French barriques. The 1990 vintage is called Wine of the century
titled. Wines are also marketed under the “McLean's Farm” label.
