Producer description of "Weingut St. Remigius"

The winery is located in the municipality of Merdingen (Tuniberg area) in the German wine-growing region of . It was founded in 1988 by Edgar Bärmann and Conrad Isele. The vineyards cover eight hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Bühl (Merdingen), (Niederrimsing) and (Achkarren). They are planted with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir (about 50% of the total area) and Merlot, as well as with the white wine varieties Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Müller-Thurgau, Riesling, Muscat, Gewürztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyards are cultivated in a natural, environmentally friendly way.

The grapes are carefully processed after a selective hand harvest. The wines are vinified according to the type of vineyard and vintage. The red wines are matured in traditional wooden barrels or in barriques after . The white wines, which are predominantly dry, are pressed gently and then left to mature completely at to ferment fully. The premium wines include the red wines Spätburgunder Remigius and Spätburgunder Auslese, as well as the white wines Riesling Niederrimsinger Rotgrund and Chardonnay Achkarrer Schlossberg. Rosé wines and , a , bottle-fermented sparkling wines and various tester brandies are also produced. From one and a half hectares, many noble brandies are produced from pome and stone fruit in the estate's own distillery.
