Commonly used material for the production of stainless steel tanks used for the fermentation, Storage and removal of wines. Stainless steel has a high proportion of chromium (as well as nickel, molybdenum and titanium). On the surface, the chromium forms a closed layer (so-called passive layer) with the oxygen of the air, which protects the iron in the alloy from rust. The advantages over containers made of wood and concrete are easily possible cleaning especially of Weinstein, optimal use of space, flexible volumes (from small tanks of 50 liters up to one million liters), complete closure opposite oxygen, lower loss and better possibility of temperature control.
