Steinbuckel

single vineyard in the municipality of Laumersheim (Mittelhaardt/Deutsche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of Pfalz. The site was first mentioned in documents in 1345 under the name "uff dem Mandelberg". Mandelberg was also the official name of the site until 2009. A particularly high-quality parcel is called Steinbuckel, which has been the official new name of the entire site since 2010. The south to south-east facing vineyards at 130 metres above sea level with a slope of 10 to 15% cover 35 hectares of vines. The soils consist of limestone rock with a thick overlying layer of loess and occasional sandy loam. The Riesling variety is cultivated here in particular. The Knipser, Kuhn Philipp, Jesuitenhof and Zelt Mario wineries, for example, have shares in the site.

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
