Steinert

One of the Alsace (Haut-Rhin) sites classified as Grand Cru within the Alsace Grand Cru appellation. In 1150 it was owned by the Benedictine monastery of Muri (Switzerland). The vineyards cover 39 hectares of vineyards on steep, calcareous soil in the two communes of Pfaffenheim and Westhalten. They are planted with the varieties Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris and Riesling. Well-known producers are François Flesch, Pierre Frick, Domaine Moltès, CV Pfaffenheim, Rieflé, François Runner and Wolfberger.
