single vineyard in the municipality of Erbach in the German wine-growing region of Rheingau. It was first mentioned in documents as early as 1211. The name most likely refers to the old measure of area, the acre, the size of the field that could be worked in one morning. The southeast to south-facing vineyards at an altitude of 90 to 120 metres above sea level with a slope of 10 to 20% cover 18 hectares of vineyards. The soils consist of deep loess and loess loam with partly gravelly intercalations. Here, mainly the Riesling variety is cultivated. Shares in the site are held, for example, by the wineries Baron Knyphausen, F.B. Schönleber, Jung Jakob, Lamm-Jung, Nikolai Heinz, Oetinger and cooperative members of the Winzer von Erbach.
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
