Stock division

A method of vegetative propagation of plants. It is suitable for plants from whose rootstocks several shoots grow. Stock division consists of dividing the rootstock into a maximum of as many sections as there are shoots or buds on it. One root ball is made into two or more. However, this method is not suitable for producing a large number of genetically identical plants due to its lack of efficiency. In viticulture, on the other hand, propagation is done by inserting individual shoots of a vine; see Vegetative propagation.
