The "Riesling winery Alfons Stoffel" is located in the community Leiwen (Bernkastel area) in the German wine-growing region Moselle
, It was taken over by Alfons Stoffel in the early 1970s. Since 1999, the 4-star guest house "St. Maximin "connected with four apartments. The vineyards cover four hectares of vineyards in the layers brotherhood
(Köwerich), as well as monastery garden and Laurentiuslay
(Leiwen). They are 95% with the Riesling, and planted some Pinot Blanc. In the vineyard is practiced consistently close to nature, environmentally friendly viticulture. After the longest possible vegetation phase, selective harvesting and gentle pressing, a slow, temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks takes place in order to preserve the aromas. This is followed by an individual ripening on the lees in partly traditional wooden barrels. In weather-appropriate years, an ice wine is also pressed. It is also produced a bottled fermented Riesling sparkling wine. Winery and guest house are since March 2010 a certified quality enterprise of the umbrella brand Mosel.
