Storgozia

The red grape variety (also Storgoziya) is an interspecific new variety between Buket x Seyve-Villard 12-375 (Villard Blanc). The hybrid was crossed in 1976 in Bulgaria by the breeder I. Ivanov. The name was given after the ancient Roman name for the city of Pleven. The high-yielding vine is resistant to both powdery mildew and botrytis, as well as to winter frost. It produces red wines with high acidity and alcohol content and ageing potential. In 2010, the area under cultivation in Bulgaria was 295 hectares, mainly in the province of Pleven. It is also used as table grape.
