Producer description of "Weinbau Familie Stritzinger"

The winery is located in the municipality of Klingenberg (Mainviereck area) in the German wine-growing region of Franconia. It was founded in 1972 by Hedwig and Willi Stritzinger. However, viticulture played a role in the family much earlier, as an ancestor is mentioned in an old document as a "cooper and arable farmer". In 1990, the farm was converted to organic (ecological) viticulture according to the certified guidelines of the organic association Bioland. In 1985, the farm was also a founding member of the Federal Association of Organic Viticulture. After completing her training as a winegrower and passing her master craftsman's examination, the farm has been run by daughter Anja Stritzinger since 2001.

The vineyards cover two hectares of vineyards in the Schlossberg (Klingenberg) and Centgrafenberg (Bürgstadt) vineyards in terraced steep slopes. They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Johanniter and Müller-Thurgau, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Regent, Pinotin and Blauer Portugieser. A special feature is an old vineyard with about 20 grape varieties, from where the red wine "Alter Satz" comes. The gentle processing of the selected grapes is carried out according to non-invasive rules with as little intervention as possible in the cellar. The white wines are vinified in stainless steel tanks. The red wines undergo a ten-day maceration and are then aged in large wooden bar rels or in barriques. We also produce semi-sparkling wine and bottle-fermented sparkling wine.
