The traditional "Weingut J & H. A. Strub" is located in the municipality of Nierstein (Nierstein area) in the German wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. It was founded as early as 1710. After attending the technical college for viticulture in Geisenheim and practical experience at Simi Winery in California's Napa Valley, it has been run by Walter Strub in the 11th family generation since 1985. After internships with Darting Helmut (Pfalz) and Dönnhoff Hermann (Nahe), as well as studies in oenology in Geisenheim, the 12th generation is already working with son Sebastian.

The vineyards cover 14 hectares of vineyards in the Nierstein vineyards Hipping, Ölberg, Orbel, Pettenthal (all Roter Hang), as well as Brückchen, Findling, Paterberg and Rosenberg. They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling (75%), Müller-Thurgau, Grüner Veltliner and Pinot Blanc, as well as Pinot Noir. With the aim of producing wines that are typical of the varieties, they are mainly vinified in stainless steel tanks with slow fermentation. Since 1993, whole cluster pressing has been used for Riesling, which gives the wines more fruitiness. The wines are exported to Benelux, Japan, Canada and the USA. Since the 2005 vintage, almost all wines have been fitted with STELVIN brand screw caps.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
