The British wine writer Serena Sutcliffe MW (* 1945) is considered a world leader in the wine sector and is also profound wine critic, She is with the wine writer David Peppercorn MW married, who like her the coveted title of a Masters of Wine wearing. The two were the very first MW couple, she was the second MW woman. Sutcliffe led the International Wine Department in the famous auction house Sotheby's, led the world-hosted Auctions and was named honorary chairman (Honorary Chairman Sotheby's Wine). She regularly writes for many international publications and is a regular interview partner, lecturer and knowledge broker in TV programs in Europe, the US and Asia. Their standard work "The Wines of Burgundy" with 600 producers and their wines described therein appeared in 2005 in its 8th edition.
In 1988 she was awarded the title "Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et Let Letes" (Order of the Arts and Literature) by the French Government on the basis of her literary achievements. She received numerous other awards. These included 1993's appointment to the Académie Internationale du Vin, 2002's New York Institute of Technology's Professional Excellence Award and 2006's Lifetime Achievement Award by the Society of Bacchus America. In 2006, she was awarded the title "Chevalier dans l'Ordre National de la Legion d'Honneur" for her pioneering work in the promotion and sale of French wines. See also below literature,
