The estate is located in the Hohenwarth municipality in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region Weinviertel, The traditional family business is run by Doris and Leopold Sutter, who are particularly committed to the green, red and early red Veltliner. August Sutter (grandfather of the current owner) was the first winemaker in the community to bottle and market wine. With the Veltliner cuvée "Herrenberg" and the Blauer Portugieser he was represented in the best restaurants in the country (e.g. Hotel Sacher in Wien ). The Sutter's philosophy is "natural management of our vineyards, restraint in the cellar".
The vineyards cover 25 hectares of vineyards on barren, lime-rich gravel and loamy loess soils in the vineyards of Gartensteig, Hochstrass, Kellerberg, Laa, Mühlweg, Neubirg and Steinbruch. These are mainly planted with Grüner Veltliner, Roter Veltliner and Frühroter Veltliner . There is also Riesling and the red varieties Blauer Burgunder, Blauer Portugieser, Blauburger and Blauer Zweigelt. When processing, only manual work is used, be it with pruning, in the foliage care or at the vintage, The quality pyramid includes estate wines, local wines and site wines. Depending on the type of wine, these are stored in vintage, layered and in steel tanks or in wooden and oak barrels typical of the variety expanded. The premium wines include above all the Rote Veltliner “Alte Reben” and various Weinviertel DAC Reserve (Green Valtellina).
