Synthetic closure

Bottle closure made of synthetic material; see under plastic corks.

This new type of closure became popular from the beginning of the 1990s as an alternative to the natural c ork because of the increased cork taint there. The stoppers are usually made of a rubber or Teflon mixture. Currently, three processes are used.
