The "Szigeti Sektkellerei" is located in the municipality Gols
in the Burgenland wine-growing region Lake Neusiedl
, It was founded in 1991. The company is run by Norbert (cellar master) and Peter Szigeti (sales & marketing). The grapes are supplied by contract growers, who manage about 100 hectares of vineyards; of which 90% from the Seewinkel. The part from the vineyards Altenberg
, Breitenäcker, Goldberg
and Zwickelacker is used exclusively for the "Gols Prestige". To a small extent are also grapes Krems
(Lower Austria) used for the special "limited edition" series of ply sects. Main varieties are Grüner Veltliner and Welschriesling with about one third of the production. Other are the white varieties Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Muscat Ottonel and Neuburger, and the red varieties Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch
and Pinot Noir.
The wide product range includes 30 different sparkling and frizzante specialties from local grapes, which are sorted and produced as cuvées. These are produced exclusively according to the classic "Méthode traditionnelle" (bottle fermentation), whereby great emphasis on varietal
is placed. The premium products include the 36-month yeast-matured Gols Prestige (from the Golser Rieden), Grüner Veltliner Brut (from the Riede sandpit
in Krems), Blanc de Noirs (Riede Sauberg in Langenlois), Riesling Brut (Riede Spitzer Graben in Spitz) and Sauvignon Blanc Brut (Riede Langer Acker in Apetlon). There are also two organic sects according to the guidelines of the association Bio Austria
and "Szigeti Beer" with second fermentation in the bottle with champagne yeast produced.
