table wine

Name for a wine whose alcoholic strength results solely from alcoholic fermentation; unlike witted wine. Similarly, table wine is also a name for the lowest wine quality level. However, in many countries there is a somewhat confusing conceptual overlap with the term (which has been banned within the EU since 2009) table wine, For although the Italian Vino da tavola, the Spanish Vino de mesa, the Portuguese Vinho de mesa and the French Vin de table literally means "table wine", these wines are referred to as table wines (in German table and table in connection with Food-like meaning).
