Tailor Claus

The winery "Claus and Susanne Schneider" is located in the community Weil am Rhein (Markgräflerland area) in the German wine-growing region to bathe, The ancestors of the family have been growing wine since 1425. Claus Schneider studied in vineyard and took over in 1982 as a trained viticulture and cellar technician, the family business. His wife Susanne Hagin-Schneider comes from a long-established Haltinger winemaker and cooper family and in 1979 was the Baden wine queen. The vineyards cover eight hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Stiege (Haltingen) and Schlipfkrapfen (Because). They are mainly planted with Pinot Noir (40%) and Chasselas (30%), as well as Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Johanniter. All wines are completely fermented and aged without residual sugar. After a long yeast storage, the white wines are usually not bottled before the end of April. The red wines mature for 12 months or more in large oak barrels or in new barriques. It also produces bottle-fermented sect.
