The private producers' association "Consorzio Talento" was founded in Italy in 1975 with the aim of cultivating the Metodo classico, the classic method of producing a sparkling wine by means of bottle fermentation, or to emphasise it as a special quality concept. Today, around 50 producers from, for example, the regions of Lombardy, Trentino and Veneto belong to it. The protected designation Talento is used instead of Spumante because this general designation for sparkling wine sometimes has a bad image due to many mass-produced products of lower quality.
