Tarnave

Most important and oldest wine-growing region (also Tirnave) of Transylvania in the centre of Romania. Most of the vineyards are located on steep mountain slopes along the rivers Small Tarnava and Big Tarnava at an altitude of up to 300 meters above sea level. The area is one of the coolest in Romania and is especially known for its white wines with appealing acidity. Sparkling wines are also produced. The most common grape varieties are Fetească Albă, Dănășană(Fetească Regală), Neuburger, Pinot Gris, Tamîioasa Ottonel(Muscat Ottonel), Sauvignon Blanc, Traminer and Welschriesling.
