Tenuta di Lilliano

The estate is located in the municipality of Lilliano, a district of Castellina in Chianti (province of Siena) in the Italian region Tuscany, The wine production is part of a large estate with a total of 460 hectares of land, including 40 olive groves, 170 seeds, 70 irrigated land and 130 forests. The beginnings of the building complex formerly owned by the Margrave di Toscana date back to the Middle Ages and have been partially preserved in the topography, basement and ring wall. The traditional estate was acquired in 1920 by the grandfather of the current owners. Eleonora Ruspoli Berlingieri started bottling wines in 1958 and was supported by the two specialists Giulio Gabelli and Enzo Morganti. The current owners are Giulio and Pietro Ruspoli, Andrea Brunelli as cellar master and Lorenzo Landi as oenologist. The vineyards cover 36 hectares. They are planted exclusively with red wines, namely Sangiovese, Merlot, Canaiolo, Colorino del Valdarno, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon. In new vineyards, Sangiovese are exclusively Clones used, which come from the research and trial series "Chianti Classico 2000", in which the winery has significantly participated.

The winemaking is done in a traditional way. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled, glass-lined concrete tanks. It also gets olive oil and grappa generated. The winery is a member of the associations Consorzio Vino Chianti Classico, Consorzio Olio DOP Chianti Classico and Confagricoltura.
