DOC area for red wine and rosé wine in Trentino, the southern area of the Italian double region Trentino-South Tyrol. It is located at the confluence of the rivers Adige and Noce. The zone includes the municipalities of Mezzocorona and Mezzolombardo, as well as the district of Grumo in the municipality of San Michele all'Adige in the province of Trento (Trento). Described as "the most beautiful in Europe", the vineyards cover 422 hectares of vines and lie on sandy, calcareous soil over layers of gravel. The vines are traditionally trained on pergolas. Rosso or Rubino and Kretzer (Rosato) are made purely from Teroldego. There is also a Superiore and a Superiore Riserva. An IGT wine (local wine) Vigneti delle Dolomiti, vinified from also 100% Teroldego already four weeks after the harvest, is marketed as Novello.
The Wine lexicon helps me to keep up to date and refresh my knowledge. Thank you for this Lexicon that will never end in terms of topicality! That's what makes it so exciting to come back often.
