The white grape variety originates from Portugal. Synonyms are Terrantes do Pico and Terrantez. The name refers to the Azores island of Pico, where it was represented at least in former times. It should not be confused with other Terrantez varieties such as, among others, the Malvasia Fina variety (with synonym Terrantez do Pico). It is grown in minute quantities in the Beira Interior and Trás-os-Montes areas of the Festand. In 2016, 0.3 hectares of vines were designated (Kym Anderson).
Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
