Terre del Colleoni

DOC area (also Colleoni) for white wines and red wines in the Italian region Lombardy, The zone was created in 2011 and comprises more than 70 municipalities in the province of Bergamo. The name pays homage to the ancient noble family of Colleoni in Bergamo. Viticulture reaches here until the time of Etruscan back. Allegedly, Julius Caesar (100-44 BC), as he moved with his legions through this area, have estimated the wine from Bergamo. More reports are available from Pliny the Elder (23-79) and Petrus de Crescentiis (1230-1320).

The varietal wines are made from at least 85% of the respective variety, and optionally a maximum of 15% other approved varieties. The white wines are Chardonnay, Incrocio Manzoni ( Manzoni Bianco ), Moscato Giallo ( Goldmuskateller ) - as well Passito, Pinot Bianco ( Pinot Blanc ) and Pinot Grigio ( Pinot Gris ). The reds are Cabernet ( Cabernet Sauvignon ), Franconia ( Blaufränkisch ), Incrocio Terzi ( Incrocio Terzi 1 ) Marzemino. Merlot u. Schiava ( Schiava Lombarda ).

On Frizzante Can be produced on all wine types listed above. On Spumante is only possible with the wine types Chardonnay, Incrocio Manzoni, Pinot Bianco and Pinot Grigio. And a Novello is allowed for the wine types Cabernet, Franconia, Incrocio Terzi and Merlot. In addition, there is a special Spumante , in any use of Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Nero, Incrocio Manzoni and Pinot Grigio with the Metodo classico ( bottle fermentation ) fermented and aged for 15 months on the lees. The version Millesimato (Vintage spumante) has to mature for 24 months. A special Novello is produced in any use of the approved red varieties (but without Schiava varieties and Marzemino).
