Producer description of "Terre di Bruca"

The winery is located in the municipality of Castellammare del Golfo in the province of Trapani in the Italian region of . It was established as recently as 2009, but the founders each have several generations of winemakers to look back on. The company is owned by Michele Barbera. Michele Barbera is responsible as managing director, Vincenzo Bambina as oenologist. The vineyards cover 130 hectares. They are planted with the white wine varieties Chardonnay, Inzolia, Moscato Bianco (Muscat Blanc) and Grillo, and with the red wine varieties Merlot, Syrah, Zibibbo (Muscat d'Alexandrie), Nero d'Avola and Frappato. A specific vineyard area is dedicated to each wine, based on an appropriate analysis of the soil, in order to obtain the best result.

The cultivation is carried out according to the principles of , such as (green manuring). In winemaking, the technique of is used, thus removing the lees from the must before to achieve greater freshness and acidity. The product range includes various IGP Sicilia and Terre Siciliane wines. The flagship of the house is the varietal red wine "Quaranta" from Nero d'Avola. About 150,000 bottles of wine are produced annually, of which about 10% are exported to Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and the USA.
