Terre di Casole

DOC area for white wines and red wines in the Italian region of Tuscany. The zone includes the eponymous municipality of Casole d'Elsa in the province of Siena with only 15 hectares of vineyards. The Bianco (also called Riserva) is made from Chardonnay (zum. 50%), as well as other approved varieties (max. 50%). The Rosso (also as Superiore) is produced from Sangiovese (60-80%), as well as other approved varieties (max. 20%). The pure Sangiovese (also as Riserva) must contain at least 85% of this variety. The sweet Passito must contain at least 50% Chardonnay. If the grapes come from classified vineyards, Vigna can be indicated followed by the name of the vineyard.
