Three-Lakes Region (GB)

Wine region extending over four cantons in the Switzerland around the three Jura lakes Lac de Bienne (Lake Biel), Lâc de Morat (Murtensee) and Lâc de Neuchâtel (Lake Neuchâtel). These big ones waters influence by sun reflection the climate for viticulture positively. The vineyards cover 945 hectares of vineyards with three areas. The north of the canton Vaud lying Bonvillars area consists of the three appellations Bonvillars, Côtes de l'Orbe and Vully. Under wine law, however, only the appellation Vully am Murtensee counts to the Three Lakes area. The other two appellations Bonvillars and Côtes de l'Orbe on Lake Neuchâtel are geographically also in the Three Lakes, but do not count on the express wish of the Vully winemakers. A special feature is Vully also because this appellation of the two cantons Freiburg (107 ha) and Vaud (50 ha). The vintners of Vully see themselves as a common wine region, although in between a canton border with different wine law regulations. To the canton Neuchatel count areas on Lake Neuchâtel and a small part on the north-western shore of Lake Biel; In total, this is 605 hectares.
