Thurgau

Canton with the capital Frauenfeld in the north-east of Switzerland with a 62 kilometre long shore on Lake Constance. The vineyards cover 274 hectares and belong to the wine region of German-speaking Switzerland. The majority of the land, which is mostly south-facing, is located in the Thur valley (around Iselisberg) and in the wider surroundings of the municipality of Weinfelden. The Trottenhalde near Neunforn is considered one of the best sites in eastern Switzerland. Mainly red wines from the Blauburgunder variety are produced. In Tägerwilen the Swiss viticulture pioneer Dr. Hermann Müller (1850-1927) was born, who called himself Müller-Thurgau after his origin and who created the grape variety of the same name.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
