The estate is located in the municipality of Sonnendorf (near Bad Sulza) in the German wine-growing region Saale-Unstrut
, It was founded in 1992 as the first winery in Thuringia. Owners since 1997 are the Burkhardt family and the town of Bad Sulza. The company is managed since 1994 by Andreas Clauß (winemaker and technician for viticulture and cellar). The cellar master is Wolfram Proppe. In recent years, among other things, the winery was furnished in a contemporary way, as well as a wine sales and tasting rooms created. The vineyards cover 42 hectares of vineyards. (Bad Sulza) and Tamsel
(Auerstedt) cultivates and since 2008 also the historical terraces of the individual situation Schlossberg (Dornburg), below the Dornburger castles. In addition, in the spring of 2010, a new location in Kunitz near Jena with 2.7 hectares of vineyards was established. There are 75% of the white varieties Müller-Thurgau (20%), Kerner, Chasselas, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Traminer, Muscat, Auxerrois, Ortega, Scheurebe, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, and 25% of the red varieties Regent, Cabernet Dorsa , Early Burgundy and Pinotin cultivated.

The white wines are stored on the long lees and are aged in stainless steel containers, a small part in traditional wooden barrels. The red wines are traditionally mashed and then undergo BSA. The best wines of a vintage are marketed under the name "Excellence". The trademark of the winery is the missing corner of the label. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced and fine brandies (pomace, fruit brandies) from the winery's own orchards are offered. Every year, around 200,000 bottles of wine are bottled and marketed.
