Tihany

The white grape variety comes from Hungary; the name derives from the peninsula of the same name in Balaton (Lake Balaton). Synonyms are Diana, Diána Szölö, Regenyei Sárfehér, Sárga Fügen, Somlauer (reference to the area Somló north of Lake Balaton), Tihanyi and Tihany Fehér. After the ampelograph Hermann Goethe (1837-1911) it comes from the region of Syrmia, the former settlement area of the Danube Swabia (today parts in the Vojvodina region of Serbia and Slavonia in Croatia ). It becomes a relationship with the Sauvignon Blanc supposed. No stocks were shown in 2010 (Kym Anderson ).
