Tinta de Lisboa

The red grape variety comes from Portugal. Synonyms are Bastardo do Outeiro, Bastardo Espanhol, Bastardo Espanhol Cova Beira, Bastardo Tinto and Tinta Lisboa. In spite of apparently indicative synonyms or morphological similarities, it should not be confused with the varieties Alfrocheiro and Trousseau Noir (see also Bastardo). According to DNA analyses carried out in 2010, it is probably a natural cross between Síria x Trousseau Noir. However, this is based on only 19 DNA markers (see also molecular genetics). The early ripening vine produces pale red wines. In the 18th century, it was one of the most important Portuguese grape varieties, but has lost its importance. The variety is cultivated in small quantities in the Douro area. In 2016, however, no stock was recorded (Kym Anderson).
