The red grape variety (also Tinto Jeromo) comes from Spain. The origin of the variety (parenthood) is unknown. The low-yielding vine produces colourful, tannic red wines with fruity aromas of sloes and blackberries and ageing potential. Due to its low yield, it was almost extinct, but was included in a reactivation programme because of its quality potential. It is now being grown again in small quantities in the Arribes area (Castilla y León). However, no stocks were recorded in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
I have great respect for the scope and quality of the wein.plus encyclopaedia. It is a unique place to go for crisp, sound information on terms from the world of wine.
