The DOC area for red and white wines in the Portuguese region of Lisboa used to be called just Torres until the famous Spanish winery owner Miguel Torres (*1941) successfully protested against it. The wines are mainly made from the indigenous varieties Arinto, Camarate Tinto, Fernão Pires, Jampal, Mortágua (Trincadeira Preta), Periquita (Castelão Francês), Rabo de Ovelha, Seara Nova, Tinta Miúda (Graciano) and Vital.
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
