Torrontés

In Spain, Portugal and in some South American countries, frequently used name component for many different white grape varieties. The confusion is compounded by different spellings ("o" and "u"). Especially in the case of varieties grown in Portugal and Spain, there is often confusion as to which one is meant. The Portuguese DOC and Spanish DO regulations and vine variety catalogues are also of no help if they only state "Torrontés".

Puerto Alto: Torrontés de Montilla - Spain
Terrantez da Madeira: Torrontés Portgues - Madeira/Portugal
Torontél: Moscatel Amarilla, Torontél Amarillo, Torrontel Corriente - South America
Torrontés Mendocino: Torrontés - South America
Torrontés Riojano: Torrontél, Torrontél Riojano, Torrontés - South America
Torrontés Sanjuanino: Torrontél Sanjuanino, Torrontés - South America
Zalema: Torrontés de Montilla - Andalusia/Spain
