Genus of molds with the only known species Trichothecium roseum. It occurs frequently in the soil and on dying plant material worldwide. Trichothecium roseum can often be found in the interior as a spoilage agent on flour products and other foods. The fast-growing mold shows a whitish color, which changes to orange to reddish in older colonies. In the vineyard it becomes the Traubenfäuleart Causes pink rot (see under green rot ).
