The white grape variety comes from Portugal. Synonyms are Santarem Branco, Trincadeira and Trincadeira Branca and Trincadeira Branco. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2020, it comes from a presumably natural cross between Hebén x- Trousseau Noir. It is cultivated in the Alentejo, Algarve, Beira Interior and Trás-os-Montes areas. In 2016, a total of 49 hectares of vines were planted, with a downward trend (Kym Anderson statistics).
