Triplet blanc

The white grape variety is a new variety between Colombard x Vernaccia Sarda = Vernaccia di Oristano (but it is not clear which Vernaccia variety is actually involved). Crossbreeding was carried out in California in the 1960s by the private breeder Fay Triplett (1904-2000), selection in the mid-1980s in collaboration with the University of California and the wine multinational Gallo. The high-yielding vine produces acidic, fruity, full-bodied white wines. In 2010, a total area under cultivation of 244 hectares was recorded in the USA-California (Statistics Kym Anderson).
