Trnjak

The red grape variety originates from the former Yugoslavia in the border region of Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Synonyms are Rudežuša, Trnjak Crni, Trnjak Mali, Trnjak Uzgoriti and Trnjak Veliki. It is named it after the municipality of the same name in Bosnia and Herzegovina near Mostar. The parentage (parentage) is unknown). The medium to late ripening vine yields intense ruby red, high alcohol red wines. It is grown in Dalmatia in the hinterland and on the coast. No stocks were reported in 2016; in 2010 there were 15 hectares in Croatia (Kym Anderson statistics).
