Genes from Vitis amurensis and Vitis vinifera are included. The hybrid was crossed in Russia in 1947 by Ya. I. Potapenko. The variety is grown in Krasnodar Krai and Rostov Oblast. In 2016, 169 hectares of vineyards were reported in Russia (Kym Anderson statistics).
