Turmberg

single vineyard in the municipality of Kiedrich in the German wine-growing region of Rheingau. It lies below the preserved keep of the Scharfenstein castle ruins, from which the name is derived. The castle was built in 1160 by the archbishops of Mainz. During the land consolidation in 1971, it was incorporated into single vineyard Wasseros, but was redefined as an independent single vineyard in 2005. The south-southwest facing vineyard at an altitude of 120 to 200 metres above sea level with a slope of 50 to 60% covers 3.8 hectares of vines. The deep soil consists of phyllites (clay mica schist) with loess loam admixtures and has a good water storage capacity. Only Riesling is cultivated here. The Weil Robert Winery is the sole owner of the site.
