The appellation is located in the southwest of the winegrowing region Southwest France
, It closes at the eastern border of the area Madiran
at. The former VDQS division was classified as AOP in 2011. The vineyards cover 300 hectares of vineyards in 41 municipalities of the two departments of Landes (39) and Gers (2) at the foot of the Pyrenees. Around two-thirds of rosé and red wines from Tannat (30 to 40%), Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Fer are produced. The white wines consist of Baroque and a maximum of 10% Sauvignon Blanc, Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng, Claverie, Cruchinet, Raffiat, Claret du Gers and Clairette. Well-known producers are Château de Bachen and CV de Tursan.
