The winery is located in the community Frauenkirchen in the Burgenland DAC area Lake Neusiedl (Austria). Viticulture is operated by the Franconian family since 1755, when the ancestors moved to today Burgenland on. Josef "Pepi" Umathum has been a cult figure, doyen and winemaker philosopher within the Austrian winegrowing scene for more than twenty years. The vineyards cover 40 hectares of vineyards in three locations. The majority lies to the west and northwest of Frauenkirchen with the vineyards Hallebühl, Haideboden, Kirschgarten and vom Stein, where the red wines grow. Further areas are located in Neusiedl on the lake and in the community Jois from the former property of the Count on the other bank of Lake Neusiedl. The latter are up to 70% steeply terraced slopes in the vineyards Jungle Mountain and Hackelsberg, which lay for a long time and were laboriously reactivated.
