The estate is located in the municipality of Kaltern (Caldaro) in the Italian wine-growing area South-Tirol
(Region Trentino-Alto Adige
). In 2006, the grapes were started to be processed, previously they were delivered to a cooperative. The family has been growing wine for several generations, today the business is run by Thomas Unterhofer. The vineyards cover 2.2 hectares of vineyards in the communities Kampenn and Kaltern on mostly very steep slopes. They are the white varieties Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Kerner and Bronner, and planted with the red wine Vernatsch (Schiava Grossa). The management is carried out according to environmentally friendly guidelines. The premium wines include the DOC South Tyrol
White wines Sauvignon Blanc and Kerner (yield reduced 50 dz / ha) and the red wine DOC St. Magdalener
(20% of the grapes dried on the vine). Every year around 10,000 bottles of wine are produced and 5% go to Germany. The winery is a member of Free winegrowers South Tyrol
, Wein.Kaltern, Consortium South Tyrolean Wine and FIVI (Federazione Italiana Vignaioli Indipendenti).
