The red grape variety comes from Greece, Synonyms are Vafissa, Vaphtra, Vapsa, Vautra and Vavtra. The parentage is unknown. It produces dark-colored red wines and is mainly used as teinturier (Dye grape) used. The variety is grown on Antiparos, a side island of Paros cultured.
