The wine merchant Peter Joseph Valckenberg (1764-1837) bought in the course of the Napoleonic Secularization in 1808 the historic vineyards of the famous single location Liebfrauenstift-Kirchenstück in Worms (Rheinhessen). From this developed the winery "PJ Valckenberg". This is still partly in the possession of his descendants and has been in the meantime on Liebfrauenstift renamed. The company Valckenberg owns the sole right, the brand name "Madonna" for the wine Liebfraumilch to use. He is one of the most successful brand wines of the world. In the wine trade division of the company, German wines are sold by well-known wineries in 40 countries worldwide, the main market is Asia ( China. Japan ).
