Valencí Tinto

The red grape variety originates from France or Spain. Synonyms are Beba Negra, Calop Negro, Danugue, De Mula, Gramet, Grumiere, Grumiere Negro, Kabile Noir, Planta Mula, Planta de Mula, Rucial de Mula, Valencí, Valencia Tinto, Valenciana Tinto and Valenci Noir. It should not be confused with the varieties Bobal (Valenciana Tinto), Danugue (Valencia Tinto, Valencí Noir), Mandón (Valenciana Tinta) or Planta M ula, despite seemingly suggestive synonyms or morphological similarities. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2021, it originates from a presumably natural cross between Valenci (Beba) x unknown partner. The variety is used for pressing and table grape It is cultivated in the regions of Extremadura and Castilla-La Mancha. In 2016, 26 hectares of vineyards were designated (Kym Anderson).
