Vandyke Price

The Englishwoman Vandyke Price (*1923) was the first woman to write extensively about wine in Great Britain. She thus joined the ranks of many internationally renowned English wine authors and prepared the ground for her successors Hugh Johnson (*1939) and Jancis Robinson (*1950). The graduate of an acting course wrote - also as a co-author - about 30 books about wine and food and thus contributed a lot to making wine enjoyment popular in her home country after the Second World War. Her presentation skills on appropriate occasions were also impressive. Her most famous works include Dictionary of Wines and Spirits Alphabetica, Guide to the Wines of Bordeaux, The Taste of Wine, Curiosities of Wine, Christie's Wine Companion, France: A Food and Wine Guide, Cooking with Spices and Woman of Taste - Memoirs from he Wine World.
