The red grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Seibel 4668 x Seibel 6905(Subereux). Synonyms are SV 23-657 and Seyve-Villard 23-657, with genes from Vitis lincecumii, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera. The crossing of the hybrids was done in France by the breeder Bertille Seyve (1864-1939) at the Seyve-Villard vine nursery. The variety was a crossing partner in the new breedings Doina, Muscat Swenson and Rubin Tairovsky. It is grown in small quantities in the two departments of Gard and Hérault. In 2016, a total of five hectares of vineyards were designated in France (Statistical Kym Anderson). There are also plans for further stocks in Madagascar.
I have great respect for the scope and quality of the wein.plus encyclopaedia. It is a unique place to go for crisp, sound information on terms from the world of wine.
